Cashier’s Check

Banking & Credit

A cashier's check is a check drawn against a bank's own funds rather than your personal account — guaranteed to clear because the bank has already collected the money from you. Cashier's checks are required for high-value transactions (home down payments, car purchases) and trusted by recipients who can't accept the risk of a bouncing personal check. Cost: $5-$15 from your bank. Beware of cashier's check scams — fake cashier's checks are common in online sales; always wait for full clearance (5-7 days) before delivering goods. Your bank can usually verify authenticity via the issuing bank.
