Banking & Credit

A credit report is a detailed record of your credit accounts, payment history, public records (bankruptcies, liens), and inquiries — maintained by the three major bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. Federal law (FACTA) entitles you to a free report from each bureau annually via AnnualCreditReport.com. Reports include open and closed accounts, balance history, payment status, and the dates everything was reported. Errors are common (1 in 5 reports have at least one) and can be disputed online. Reviewing your report annually protects against identity theft and ensures your credit score reflects accurate information.
