Corporate Bond

Corporate bonds are debt securities issued by companies. They offer higher yields than Treasuries to compensate for credit risk. Rating agencies (Moody's, S&P, Fitch) grade bonds: investment grade (BBB-/Baa3 and above) versus high-yield/junk (below). Investment grade corporates yield 1-3% above equivalent-maturity Treasuries; high-yield bonds can yield 4-8% above. Corporate bond ETFs: LQD (investment grade), HYG (high yield). In bond ladders or balanced portfolios, corporates add yield but increase correlation with stocks during recessions (when credit risk spikes). For stability, prefer Treasuries; for yield, blend investment grade corporates with Treasuries.
