Hardware Wallet

Crypto & Blockchain

A hardware wallet is a physical device (USB stick-sized) that stores cryptocurrency private keys offline and signs transactions securely. Major brands: Ledger (Nano S, Nano X), Trezor (Model T, Safe 3), KeepKey. Provides 'cold storage' — private keys never touch internet-connected devices, dramatically reducing hack risk. Transactions are signed inside the device after physical confirmation. Cost: $60-$300 depending on features. Essential for anyone holding significant crypto (over a few thousand dollars). Setup involves generating and securely backing up the seed phrase. Don't buy used hardware wallets — possible tampering. Ledger had a 2020 customer database leak (no funds lost, but doxxing risk).
