Banker’s Hours

Banking & Credit

Banker's hours historically meant the limited 10am-3pm weekday hours traditional banks observed. Online banking, mobile deposit, ATMs, and 24/7 customer service have eliminated banker's hours as a real constraint for most needs. However, certain transactions — large cash deposits, notarization, safe deposit access, wire transfers, certified checks — still require visiting a physical branch during business hours. The term has become shorthand for 'limited availability.' Online-only banks (Ally, Capital One 360, Discover Bank) provide 24/7 customer service but no branch access; choose your bank type based on whether you need branches.
