Basis Points to Percent Converter
Convert basis points (bps) to a percentage and a decimal, or the other way around. 100 bps = 1%.
The formula
1 basis point = 0.01% = 0.0001. Percent = bps ÷ 100. bps = percent × 100.
Example. A 25 bps rate cut is 0.25%. A 0.50% fee is 50 bps. Half a percent, half of one hundred — simple once the ×100 relationship clicks.
Why bps? Basis points avoid ambiguity: “up 50 bps” is unmistakable, whereas “up 0.5%” can be confused with a 0.5% relative change. They are standard in interest rates, bond yields, and fund fees.
