Discount Calculator
Take a percentage off a price to get the sale price, or work out the discount percentage from an original and final price. USD.
The formula
Final price = price × (1 − discount%). Discount% = (original − final) ÷ original.
Example. A $100 item at 25% off costs $75.00, a $25 saving. If it dropped from $100 to $75, that is a 25% discount.
Note: to add sales tax to the sale price, run the final price through the Sales Tax calculator. Stacked coupons apply one after another, not added together — 20% then 10% off is 28% off, not 30%.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a percentage discount?
Multiply the price by the rate and subtract. $100 at 25% off is $75.
How do I find the discount percent?
Divide the amount saved by the original price. Saving $25 on $100 is 25% off.
