Renter’s Insurance

Insurance

Renter's insurance covers your personal property, liability, and additional living expenses if your rental becomes uninhabitable — typically $10-$25/month for $30,000+ property coverage and $100K+ liability. Many renters skip it incorrectly believing the landlord's insurance covers their belongings (it doesn't — landlord's policy covers only the building). Coverage replaces stolen, fire-damaged, or water-damaged possessions and protects you against lawsuits from injuries at your rental. Some landlords now require renter's insurance as lease term. Cheapest insurance with the highest reward-to-cost ratio — virtually every renter should have it.
